FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
2012 Ithaca Brew Fest Hiatus
Organizers take the year off to prepare for Ithaca Beer Co. growth
Ithaca, N.Y., March 22, 2012 - In anticipation the of Ithaca Beer Co. opening a new brewing facility and brew pub this Summer, Dan Mitchell founder of both Ithaca Beer and the Ithaca Events Co., will take the year off from organizing the Ithaca Brew Fest™ at Stewart Park over Labor Day weekend this year.
Mitchell started Brew Fest in 2007 with the dream of raising awareness of the emerging craft beer scene and its natural complement to gourmet craft food as well as draw attention to the revitalization efforts at Stewart Park. Proceeds from each Brew Fest have been donated to these efforts to fund improvements to the Big Pavilion and the boat house. In addition, proceeds from Brew Fest have been donated to the New York Craft Brewers Association in past years.
Last year, Brew Fest brought 3,000+ people from New York and the Northeastern United States to Stewart Park to sample 100+ beers from 45 regional, national and international craft brewers, munch tasty food from local vendors, and enjoy music from local bands like The Sim Redmond Band and Mosaic Foundation.
Past title sponsors of Brew Fest included: Ithaca Beer Co. – ‘07, ‘08, ’09, ‘10 and ’11; Cayuga Radio Group – ‘09, ‘10 and ’11; Wegmans Grocery Store ‘09 and ’10 and WVBR – ‘07 and ’08.
Ithaca Beer was founded in 1998 by Dan Mitchell, and has brewed and bottled award-winning craft beer at its present establishment. Ithaca Beer plans to open a new brewing facility and brew pub on 82 acres of land with plans to farm items for the pub.
